Refunds & Cancellations
Last updated: 26 September 2026
Every book is printed for your order, and personalised books carry your child’s name. That shapes the rules below. Your rights under consumer law come first: see section 8, and section 7 if you live in the United Kingdom.
1. Personalised books: cancelling
- Before the book goes to print — any time until the 24-hour window after your preview email ends, or until you approve the preview if that is sooner — you can cancel by email and we refund the full amount you paid, including delivery [KARAR: 24.09 md. 4 kararı — vaat olarak kullanıcı onayı bekliyor].
- Once it has gone to print, we cannot cancel it and we do not refund a change of mind, because the book has been made for you alone. This does not affect your rights if the book is faulty (section 4).
- The same applies to a personalised PDF: once you have approved it, or the 24-hour window has passed, it is final.
2. Personalised books: corrections
The preview is there so you can check everything. Changes to the details you gave us (name, dedication, character, girl or boy, language order) are free before printing, for up to 2 rounds [KARAR: 24.09 md. 4 kararı — vaat olarak kullanıcı onayı bekliyor].
The name and dedication are printed exactly as you typed and approved them. If a spelling you gave and approved is printed as you gave it, that is not a fault in the book. We can reprint it with your correction at our cost price (printing plus delivery, no profit) [KARAR: 24.09 md. 4 kararı — vaat olarak kullanıcı onayı bekliyor].
3. Ready-made books (no name added)
- Before printing: you can cancel by email for a full refund as long as the book has not yet been sent to print.
- After delivery: if you change your mind, you can return a printed ready-made book in new, unused condition within 14 days of delivery [KARAR: 24.09 md. 4 kararı — vaat olarak kullanıcı onayı bekliyor]. Please email us first. Return delivery is paid by you, to [DOLDURULACAK: iade adresi — Gelato'nun iade adresi yok; kayıtlı ofis iade adresi değil]. We refund the price of the book once it arrives back; outside the United Kingdom, the original delivery cost is not refunded. In the United Kingdom, section 7 applies instead and is more generous.
- A ready-made PDF cannot be returned once it has been sent to you, unless it is faulty (section 4) — in the United Kingdom, see section 7.
4. Damaged, faulty or wrong books
If your printed book arrives damaged, has a printing or binding fault, or differs from the preview we sent you, email us with a photo of the problem. Please do this within 30 days of delivery [KARAR: 24.09 md. 4 kararı — vaat olarak kullanıcı onayı bekliyor] so that we can check it with our print partner; this does not shorten any longer period the law gives you. You choose: we print and send a new copy free of charge, or refund you. You do not need to send the faulty book back unless we ask.
PDFs with a mistake on our side — a wrong name, wrong grammatical ending, the languages in the wrong order, a faulty picture or a missing page — are corrected and sent again free of charge. A preference for different wording or pictures is not a fault; those changes belong in the preview stage.
5. Books that do not arrive
If your book has not arrived 10 working days after the latest expected delivery date shown in our Shipping & Delivery section, email us [KARAR: 24.09 md. 4 kararı — vaat olarak kullanıcı onayı bekliyor]. We will check with our print partner and, if it is lost, send a new copy free of charge or refund you, as you prefer. If the delivery address you gave us was wrong, a replacement is charged at cost.
6. How refunds are paid
Refunds go back to the card you paid with, through Stripe, in the currency you paid. We issue them within 5 working days of agreeing to them [KARAR: 24.09 md. 4 kararı — vaat olarak kullanıcı onayı bekliyor]; in the United Kingdom, never later than the deadlines in section 7. Your bank may take a few more days to show the money.
7. United Kingdom: your statutory right to cancel
If you live in the United Kingdom, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 give you a right to cancel most online purchases within 14 days without giving a reason.
- Ready-made printed books: you may cancel from the moment you order until 14 days after the day the book is delivered. Tell us clearly — an email is enough, or you can use the model form below. Send the book back within 14 days of telling us. We refund the price and the standard delivery charge within 14 days of receiving the book back (or your proof that you sent it, if earlier). You pay the cost of returning it. We may reduce the refund if the book has been handled more than needed to look at it.
- Personalised books: the statutory right to cancel does not apply to goods made to your specifications or clearly personalised (regulation 28(1)(b)). You can still cancel before printing as set out in section 1.
- PDFs (digital content): the 14-day right to cancel ends when we start sending you the PDF, but only if you asked us at checkout to supply it straight away and acknowledged that you would lose the right to cancel [KARAR: A3 — ödeme sayfasında açık rıza + kabul kutusu (reg 37) yok; eklenmeden GB'de PDF satılmamalı].
- These rights are in addition to your rights for faulty goods under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (section 4, and our Terms of Sale section 10).

8. Your consumer rights everywhere
This policy does not limit your rights under consumer law. In New Zealand, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 gives you guarantees, including that goods are of acceptable quality and match their description, and those guarantees cannot be taken away by us. In Australia:
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
In the United Kingdom, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 gives you remedies for faulty goods and digital content. In the United States and Canada, you also keep any rights your state or province gives you. “No refund for change of mind” never means “no remedy for a faulty book”.
